This article describes 10 useful traits for board members. We will soon be in need of a few good board members! There is currently one vaccant seat on the WPOA Board of Directors, and two will be up for re-election for a total of three positions that will be elected in March, 2013. While the 2013 Board Election is still six months away, now is the time to get involved if you have ever considered serving on the Board of Directors. Take these steps to get your name on the ballot for 2013:
-Attend a board meeting to see what it is like (optional). The next two meetings are scheduled for September 11th and October 9th.
-Fill out your nomination form, and take it to public gatherings to get your signatures before the November 1 deadline (required). Five signatures are necessary to get your name on the ballot, as required by our governing documents. We would never want this formality to stand in the way of anyone who wants to be on the board, so just fill out your nomination form and bring it to a potluck, a board meeting, or even email contact@willoughbyneighborhood.org and let us know you need some help getting signatures. Getting this requirement out of the way prior to November 1st ensures your name can be on the ballot. The nomination form was attached to the newsletter circulated in the neighborhood this week, or you can access it here.
-"Campaign" between November and February (optional). Let your neighbors know that you are running for the Board and would appreciate their vote! If elected, your term will begin March 2nd, 2013.
