- Tuesday, May 9th
- "Brookwood Parcel" off 5th street
- 6:00pm - 7:30pm
Please join us at 6:00 on Tuesday May 9th for an on-site discussion of the city's proposal to purchase 5 acres of Willoughby Property Owners Association land north of the creek alongside Brookwood subdivision on 5th St. Representatives from the City and the Piedmont Environmental Council will be there to answer questions about the nature and the impacts of the project.
The city would like to purchase outright or obtain an easement -- in order for this undeveloped strip of land to be officially incorporated in the Rivanna Trail System. Currently, this piece of our property is the only access to this portion of the Rivanna Trail, and it is regularly used for trail access by the general public.
This is possibly the last time we will have for any neighborhood discussion before board acts on the proposal. This is a complicated issue, and it would be good to get a fuller sense of how the neighborhood feels - Pro, Con, or Indifferent. Please let your voice be heard.
You can get to this piece of our property by walking North on 5th St. toward downtown. It is possible to drive - there is a pull-off, but parking and room to maneuver is limited.
At 5:45, We will meet in Big Rock Park with anyone who'd like to walk the trails over to the parcel. If you are unable to walk the trail, please meet at the parcel at 6:00pm
