The WPOA annual meeting is two months away, and it signifies the beginning of a new year for the Association.
Over the past year, there has been a lot of activity. 5th Street Station is well underway, which has brought great interest in trail easements, or land purchase, for public use. There has also been progress made toward revising the WPOA documents. Two separate committees have been formed to navigate each of these tasks. Soon, the committees will be visiting all of the Willoughby residents to discuss the results, and garner input.
This coming year, more than ever, there is a huge need for volunteers.
First, we need more, and new, board members. The new board members will likely vote on trail easements, as well as document revision. Currently, those decisions lye in the hands of the board, and it is important to have a large, diverse group of board members to make that decision. There are only six or seven board meetings each year, and they generally last around an hour. It's a small commitment, and can be very rewarding.
Second, we need volunteers to serve on the trails committee and documents committee. Those committee members will be tasked with informing the neighborhood, and getting feedback. Our lawyer will also be consulted to navigate the legal aspects of each decision. The committees meet once every two months. However, they will also be visiting every house in the neighborhood to talk with residents. So the commitment is a little higher.
Please consider being involved with the WPOA board or one of the committees. Your involvement would be very fulfilling, and will help shape our neighborhood for many years to come. We would like to solidify a list of board nominees before February 1st so that their name can be included on a ballot that will be mailed on the 2nd.
